Stop trying to get buy-in!
Yes, you heard me.
Iโve been using the term ๐ฃ๐ถ๐บ-๐ช๐ฏ for ages when I talk about your efforts to influence others in your organization to come on board with this whole Quality thing.
And then I was talking to another coach (who works with an entirely different group of professionals) who used the term ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ฏ.Whoaโฆmajor light bulb moment for me. And honestly, I felt kind of dumb for a second, because now that Iโve heard it, itโs sooooo obvious and Iโm so irritated that I didnโt think of using it in the first place.
So, yeah, lโve changed my tune. And now Iโm going to go on and on about getting โ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ฏโ. Because thatโs really what we need to do.
So then, how do we get ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ฏ?
Well, first we have to be pretty good at painting a picture of what weโre trying to get people to believe in. ๐ช๐ฒ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐.
Of purpose. Of our shared vision. Of what exactly weโre all about as a business. What do we do? And why? How does Quality factor in to all of this? How does Quality factor in to everyone’s role?
And, of course, ๐๐ฒ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐.
If you donโt trust someone, do you believe in what theyโre peddling? Right? Right!
Clarity and trust.
Youโve heard that before. Because Iโve said that before. Ad nauseam.
And youโve heard the next part too: You need good communication skills if youโre going to have clarity and trust. Itโs a bit of a loop though because clarity and trust also lead to good communication.
๐ฆ๐ผโฆ๐๐ผ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ฏ ๐๐ฒ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐, ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ด๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐บ๐๐ป๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป.
And, therefore, if we donโt have ๐๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ ๐๐ฏ (formerly known as Buy-In) it probably means one of these three is missing.
